Join me in raising money for Hope Border Institute!

Since leaving the Borderlands region where I grew up, I have become increasingly aware of the particularities of the region. The needs of the El Paso-Juárez region are strongly shaped by local, national, and global forces. The Hope Border Institute (HOPE) and borderlands communities have had to be continually creative and adaptable in responding to shifting politics and conversations on a variety of issues, including immigration.

The sister cities of El Paso and Juárez, divided by an international border, ebb and flow together. Economically, politically, socially, and culturally, the two cities co-exist in one bicultural, binational, bilingual reality.

Now, as a PhD student in Theology at University of Notre Dame, I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors at HOPE, who has long had an ear to the ground and has acted from the convictions of the Christian faith.

HOPE brings the perspective of Catholic social teaching to bear on the realities unique to the US-Mexico border region. Through a robust program of research and policy work, leadership development and action, HOPE works to build justice and deepen solidarity across the borderlands.
