In my home country of Mexico, I worked in the medical field for many years. I arrived in this country with my husband full of dreams, illusions and hope for a better future, fleeing from violence and insecurity. When I got here, I discovered that my current title was not valid in the United States and I had to start over. I was full of frustration, anger and sadness at first, but after a while I saw this as an opportunity to start something new. That’s how I found DMRS.

DMRS allowed me to continue serving my community in a different way. Being close to what I now call “my children” has helped me find my true passion, my place in this world and the purpose of my existence. When I look into the eyes of these children, I see my mother’s dreams, I see my grandmother’s fear of the future as she migrated from one city to another in search of a better place to raise her children. Nothing in this world fills my heart with joy more than hearing these children say “thank you for listening to me” because that is what I am here for. I thank DMRS for giving me the opportunity to help these people get a second chance to live with dignity and safety. And I ask you to please help me to continue serving these children who travel alone, risking their lives in search of a better future.
