Why I’m Supporting ProAction

My connection to ProAction started in 2022 when I enrolled in the EMT program. I enjoyed the experience so much that I continued working with this nonprofit in other areas and have had the opportunity to see firsthand the impact ProAction has on our community.

What stands out to me most is the people we serve. Whether it is helping a child receive a vaccine, providing care to someone who may not otherwise be able to afford it, training someone to become an EMT, or teaching someone how to respond in an emergency, our work is about making sure people have the support they need when they need it.

I am especially passionate about the work we do with underserved communities and children. Through Immunize El Paso, we provide vaccines and other preventive care to people who may face barriers to accessing healthcare. Through our Training program, we help prepare future EMTs and healthcare professionals who will go on to care for people throughout our community.

There is also a part of our work that I believe is more important than ever: Stop the Bleed.

We should never have to imagine being in a situation where someone is seriously injured, but emergencies can happen anywhere and at any time. A child at school, a parent at home, a worker on the job, or anyone in our community could find themselves in a moment when help has not arrived yet. Knowing how to recognize severe bleeding and what to do can make a difference.

That is why I value the Stop the Bleed training ProAction provides at no cost to schools and nonprofits. We cannot always prevent an emergency, but we can help more people be prepared to respond when one happens.

But our work does not stop there. Through our different programs, ProAction provides immunizations and preventive care, trains future EMTs and healthcare professionals, teaches lifesaving skills, provides emergency medical services at community events, and works to make care and education more accessible.

Having started as an EMT student and continued with ProAction in other roles, I have seen how all of these programs come together to serve our community. That is why I am proud to support ProAction this El Paso Giving Day.
