I am a first-year board member at the El Paso Holocaust Museum, but my daughter has been affiliated with their youth programs since 2020. The EPHM is a singular institution in the city. It teaches visitors and the community members who join its outreach programs about the importance of recognizing injustice and advocating for social justice. In particular, it offers young people opportunities to serve as docents, tour guides, community discussion leaders, and more. I know of no other local organization that offers students a chance to learn these kinds of skills or that takes them more seriously as citizens and community members.
