Rescue Runners is an organization that bridges the gap between the community and its pet population sitting in kennels at El Paso Animal Services (EPAS) or in Rescues waiting for their own forever homes. Every Sunday and every last Wednesday of the month, Rescue Runners comes together to walk the dogs at either the shelter’s main location or Westside Adoption Center. Through these events, we have been able to meet dogs who were surrendered, who were abused, who were found as strays, who were abandoned, or who were bred into existence and found themselves without a home. Some of these dogs have been waiting for their chance at having their own home for weeks, months, and even more than a year.

Rescue Runners makes it possible for these dogs to get outside of their kennels to take a long walk, to eat treats along the way, and to meet and spend time with people who will adore every last one of them despite their age or their breed because each one of them deserves to be loved and to be treated well.

Rescue Runners hosts events like doggy day out, provides volunteer opportunities for adoption events for rescues, and offers a program to help people get their pets spayed/neutered at an affordable price.

Rescue Runners does so much for the dogs of El Paso. They have helped connect people to their very own best friend. Sometimes, people don’t realize what has been missing from their life, until they have a four or three-legged friend, wagging their tail, looking up at them, and making them realize that they needed them too.

For this Giving Day, please consider donating to Rescue Runners so they can continue bringing our community together to help make the lives of our shelter’s pets a little bit better while they wait to be adopted.
