El Paso is my home, and for nearly three decades I have been blessed to serve the Church and the people of this community as a priest and now as auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of El Paso.

Our borderland is more than a place of challenge. It is our home, a bilingual, binational and resilient community where the dignity of every person calls us to respond with faith, compassion and hope.

That is why I support the Hope Border Institute.

Grounded in Catholic social teaching, Hope helps turn the Church’s moral voice into action. It accompanies people in crisis, equips clergy and dioceses to respond to the realities facing immigrant families, and brings the experience of our border community to conversations taking place across the country.

On El Paso Giving Day, I invite you to join me in supporting the Hope Border Institute and their important work. Your gift helps ensure that when people face moments of uncertainty and crisis, the Church and our community can respond not with silence, but with accompaniment, dignity and hope.

We have hope! ¡Tenemos esperanza!

Please join me in supporting the Hope Border Institute.
