Hello,

My name is Haydee Rodriguez. I was 27 years old when I suffered two strokes. I was working as an ICU nurse when it happened. It’s been difficult going from taking care of stroke survivors to being one myself. I joined the El Paso Aphasia Connection Center in October 2022 it’s a great organization for anyone suffering from aphasia to feel less alone by helping us integrate into society again. I definitely recommend it to anyone suffering from aphasia. Aphasia is a disorder that affects how you communicate. It can impact your speech, as well as the way you write and understand both spoken and written language. Aphasia usually happens suddenly after a stroke, a head injury or infection. This group run by a speech therapist, Jacqueline, who offers free virtual weekly meetings which provides speech therapy for our group. It helps people meet individuals with similar obstacles reintegrate socially into the community. Anything is appreciated. Please help more people receive these services.
