The Rev. Juan Victor Gamiño Trejo is a priest who is originally from Mexico and is serving San Elceario Catholic Church in the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso. With the help of Diocesan Migrant & Refugee Services, Rev. Gamiñno started the process of applying for status as a Legal Permanent Resident in November 2018. He faced several obstacles throughout the process, and by the grace of God, he obtained status as a Legal Permanent Resident in February 2021. This status will allow Rev. Gamiño to continue serving his parish, community, and the Diocese of El Paso. Additionally, he is now able to travel and will be eligible to apply to Naturalize as a U.S. Citizen in five years. It is a pleasure and an honor to serve the Diocese of El Paso with my work. My face lights up when I receive an approval and I know that the Priest, or Sister will be able to help the Diocese without interruptions due to immigration policies that may hinder them. The process is long and sometimes with many obstacles. However, my work is very rewarding, and it is a pleasure for me to serve.
