Our work thrives on collaboration with community members, schools, churches, government officials, and organizations from across the country. Border Servant Corps: A Journey of Compassion

1997: A Faithful Beginning ~ Founded by Dot Quaintance at Peace Lutheran Church in Las Cruces, NM, Border Servant Corps began with a mission to serve the community alongside local nonprofits. Over the years, more than 100 dedicated volunteers embraced values of community, simplicity, social justice, and spirituality.

2018: Opening Our Doors ~ Ruben Garcia of Annunciation House expanded the Hospitality Network to include Border Servant Corps, enabling the congregation to welcome migrant families, especially those from the Northern Triangle, with the help of community volunteers.

2021: Rising to the Challenge ~ As the need grew, Border Servant Corps launched New Mexico’s first 24/7 NGO-led migrant Hospitality Center, responding to the evolving landscape of migration amid COVID-19.

2022: Strengthening Support ~ We established a seven-day-a-week Reception Team to assist migrants navigating travel through the El Paso airport, ensuring they received the help they needed.

2023: Growing Together ~ Now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and an official Social Ministry Organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we became part of Lutheran Services in America. We also initiated a Port Reception Site to support migrants using the CBP One™ system.

2024: Expanding Our Reach ~ With the activation of a new 24/7 Hospitality Center in El Paso and the launch of the Human Rights & Advocacy Program, we continue to enhance support for migrants, working closely with regional and national partners to facilitate their journey toward self-sufficiency.

Through every step, Border Servant Corps remains committed to welcoming those seeking safety and hope. Thank you for being part of our mission!
