We provide tailored Equine Assisted Services for individuals and families with special needs in and around El Paso, West Texas borderland and Southern New Mexico. The mission of Compadres Therapy, Inc. is to team together with health and education professionals and animals to explore the healing and educational effect of the human/animal bond. Our purpose is to provide equine assisted services to persons in our entire region with special needs including but not limited to those who are physically, intellectually, or emotionally challenged and/or those who are economically disadvantaged. Compadres Therapy, Inc. will also provide the same services to those who would benefit from the experience of the human animal bond.

Interacting with and learning skills together our therapy horses is unique experience. Your support will make a positive impact in the lives of numerous people in our El Paso Borderland Region and also in the welfare of our therapy horses.

The primary services offered by Compadres Therapy, Inc. include the following and also includes an Eldercare outreach program with the horses visiting assited living facilities in the community:

Equine Facilitated Movement (Hippotherapy) refers to how physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology professionals apply best practices to create functional change in the patient by skillfully directing equine movement imparted to the patient to engage the patient’s neurological, sensory and movement systems;

Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) is an education methodology that uses the interactions and developing relationships between horses and humans in anenvironment of learning and self- discovery;

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) incorporates horses for emotional growth and learning. It is a collaborative effort between a licensed mental health counselor and a horse professional working with the clients and horses to address treatment goals.
