Nuevas Raices Resource Café & Free Store
The Nuevas Raices Resource Café is a welcoming, community-centered space designed to support migrants and local people in need– whether they are newly arrived migrants or residents - through mutual aid and a variety of free services. Located in Downtown El Paso, around the corner from San Jacinto Plaza, the Café offers a safe, inclusive space where individuals and families can find rest, a warm meal, connect with volunteers, and receive essential resources.
At the heart of the project is a café-style gathering space, offering free, vegetarian meals. The space also serves as a resource hub where guests can access resources including translation assistance (upon request), transportation guidance and free health screenings.
The Café hosts a Free Store, open on Thursdays, stocked with everyday essentials such as pantry items, clothing, hygiene products, baby supplies, blankets, and shoes—available to anyone, no questions asked.
Rooted in principles of solidarity and care, the Nuevas Raices Resource Café aims to foster a sense of belonging—treating all who enter as neighbors. The project centers the dignity and autonomy of migrants, and those in need, while creating opportunities for local residents to engage in direct, meaningful support.
