As the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) prepares to reconstruct I-10 through Downtown El Paso, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to cap the highway with a 6.5-acre multi-purpose deck park. The Deck Plaza will reconnect neighborhoods, enhance quality of life, support inclusive economic development, add green space, and celebrate the region's vibrant heritage and culture. ​In addition to becoming a new destination for all El Pasoans, attracting over 1 million visitors a year across El Paso and beyond, the Deck Plaza will generate $1 billion in economic activity, create new jobs, expand opportunities for local businesses, support affordable housing development, and ensure environmental and health benefits.
