El Paso Mission Trail Association
The El Paso Mission Trail Association strives to promote, protect, and preserve historic sites along the nine-mile segment of El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail that encompasses the communities of Ysleta, Socorro, San Elizario, and beyond. Founded in 1986, the El Paso Mission Trail Association is one of the oldest historical nonprofit organizations in the city. Your contribution will allow us to expand our outreach and continue serving the community.

Causes: Arts and Culture, Children and Youth, Education

This year, the El Paso Mission Trail Association is focusing on several key initiatives that will help boost education, preservation, and tourism efforts in the local community. Become a License Plate Ambassador, Community Trailblazer, Educational Champion, or Visitor Center Benefactor to see your contribution go towards a specific project. Become a Mission Trail Ally or Grand Sponsor to support multiple initatives!

Educational Tours: Volunteers from the El Paso Mission Trail Association host educational tours for students from all local school districts on a year-round basis. Our goal is to educate 4th and 7th grade students in particular since they learn about Texas history as part of their curriculum. With recent budget deficits affecting certain school districts in the area, your donation can help cover the $5 tour fee that is charged per student.

Community Events: Various types of events, ranging from art markets to blood drives, are held at the Mission Valley Visitor Center for overall community enrichment. Our Coffee at the Trail Series brings together authors, artists, entrepreneurs, historians, and community leaders for important presentations and networking opportunities. In addition, quarterly exhibits highlight the rich culture and history of the area. Donations can be applied towards event costs, supplies, and promotional material.

El Paso Mission Valley License Plate: The El Paso Mission Valley License Plate Fund was established in 2013 as a way to generate revenue exclusively for restoration and preservation projects at Ysleta Mission, Socorro Mission, and the San Elizario Presidio Chapel. In order to promote the sale of this specialty license plate, donations will help our organization set up a marketing campaign that can inform the community about this important initiative. To get the specialty license plate for your vehicle, please visit https://www.myplates.com/ for more information or download the form here: https://www.txdmv.gov/sites/default/files/form_files/VTR-999.pdf.

Mission Valley Visitor Center: Located next to a Sun Metro Transit Station, the Mission Valley Visitor Center serves as a gateway to one of the most historic areas in the binational region. Visitors from all over the world not only walk away with knowledge about the nine-mile trail corridor, but also of El Paso and Southern New Mexico. Since the Visitor Center is run by a group of volunteers, donations can help our organization hire a part-time intern or employee who can focus on improving tourism efforts.
