First Presbyterian School
is a place where we treasure and celebrate childhood, embracing the natural curiosity, creativity and boundless potential within each of us. Learning is a journey of discovery, nurtured through play, exploration, and meaningful connections with the world around us. This Giving Day we are asking for donations toward furthering our philosophy. Meaningful connections can mean guest mariachis, a dance teacher, Insights STEAM education; monthly field trips for middle schoolers and some for younger elementary; decorations for a holiday celebration or a parent coffee on a special day during the year. **On Scholarships** First Presbyterian has a long history of scholarships, which speaks to their importance in our community. Our scholarship policy looks to make this education more available to those in our area who seek it. A 50% scholarship (the highest we offer) can cost up to $450 a month. With Giving Day 2025, we announce our First Presbyterian Scholarship Fund, which we hope to grow in perpetuity. We hope to seed this fund with at least $5000 this Giving Day.

First Presbyterian Preschool was established forty years ago by First Presbyterian Church and Ms. Cece Neal, the founding Director. The preschool was a huge success and became a well-known and beloved school in the El Paso community for many families who wanted a nurturing and child-focused experience. First Presbyterian Preschool is a play-based school inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy where we believe in the power of community and offering a child-based education. After years of conversation and requests, an elementary school was created in 2020 by parents of the preschool who wanted to continue the school’s vision and learning methods. First Presbyterian Elementary School is a unique school that was molded by parents and always has the student as the first priority. The school believes that children can strive and grow with the love and support of our community.

The first official year of the elementary school was during the COVID pandemic in 2020. Class sizes were very small and the school phased in by offering half days. The school was started with the help of many volunteers and donations, including furniture and supplies. Teachers and parents were volunteering their valuable time and talents. The second year at FPE, 2021-2022, was the first full-day curriculum and enrolled over 40 students 1st grade through 6th grade.

During the 2023-2024 school year, our schools merged together into one school: First Presbyterian School. Our school serves ages 1 through 8th grade and is a beautiful example of how all children deserve to love learning. Children deserve to play, learn, and grow at their own pace without the constant expectation of meeting state standards. Education should be enjoyable for all–-teachers and children.

Our children deserve the full experience. At First Presbyterian School, the teachers and parents will always prioritize the child and their needs. We believe in the children and know the incredible things they are capable of. Our priority is giving them the tools they need to make their dreams come true and to create a healthy love of learning and knowledge.
