Friends of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks
At Friends of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks, we're dedicated to protecting, restoring, and educating our community about the incredible value of our public lands. A key part of our mission is our Moving Montañas youth program, which connects local youth to the outdoors, especially those who might not otherwise have that opportunity. We also organize a variety of free community events, including guided hikes, family campouts, and Dangerbird, a cycling event that attracts riders from around the world to tackle the Monumental Loop in the Monument. Doña Ana County, where we operate, is one of the most economically disadvantaged areas in New Mexico, with a child poverty rate of 39%, well above the state average of 27%. Time spent outdoors has proven benefits for both mental and physical health, and through Moving Montañas, we ensure that every child in our community has access to these life-changing experiences. We are dedicated to the ongoing growth and success of Friends of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks, and together we can inspire the next generation of stewards and make a lasting impact on our community. Donate today and help us create a brighter future for our community and public lands
