What is Frontera Arts?

We are on a mission to bring arts education to youth and community members throughout El Paso and in local shelters. We also work with elderly El Pasoans suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases. We provide a space for participants to experience creative growth and find success in artistic expression.

Local artists and educators ensure that programming is unique, innovative, and fun. Our projects revolve around culturally relevant and engaging topics. Through our programming that started in 2024, we have already reached over 3,000 El Pasoans and visitors from 39 different zip codes!

What Does Frontera Arts Do and With Whom Does Frontera Arts Partner?

We partner with local museums, organization, and nonprofits to make art accessible throughout the borderland. You can find our programming at places around our beautiful city like the El Paso Museum of History, El Paso Museum of Archaeology, El Paso Public Library locations, EPISD schools, and more! We also work in shelters, including Reynold’s Home, Rescue Mission, Opportunity Center, and Sin Fronteras, and in memory care facilities such as Monte Vista. Some of our programs include:

Artful Healing: Artful Healing provides children and adults in shelters and elderly in memory care facilities with individual and collaborative art activities that support emotional healing, encourage connection, stimulate cognitive function, and promote well-being. The project serves children and families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Through desert-themed workshops, participants engage in meaningful creative experiences that support healing, strengthen self-esteem, and foster a sense of belonging.

Where Cultures Bloom: Where Cultures Bloom is a community-based art and literacy project that explores the cultural significance of flowers and plants across diverse traditions. Through hands-on creative activities, participants learn how nature plays a meaningful role in celebrations around the world—from marigolds honoring loved ones during Día de los Muertos, to plum blossoms symbolizing renewal during Lunar New Year, to peach blossoms celebrated in Hinamatsuri, and native blooms like Poppies and cactus flowers highlighted during local environmental events.

Project Esperanza: Our aim is to provide hope and joy to underserved and at-risk youth. We do engaging storytimes, dance and sing to music that incorporates language learning, and create through book-related art projects. Kids receive hands-on experience in various types of art and foundational language and literacy support, all whilst having fun!

Where Does Your Donation Go?

Your donation goes directly into the community! Our community art projects are designed by local artists and created by El Pasoans for El Paso. The pieces themselves require art supplies like paint, glue, various paper, wood, and more. Our work with at-risk youth is focused on the combination of art and literacy, so we are always in need of new and relevant children’s books and materials to help bring the books to life in the form of art projects.
