The Institute for Science Leadership (ISL) was founded on a simple belief: talented students in our border region deserve opportunities to explore their potential, connect with mentors, and develop the skills and confidence to become tomorrow’s scientists and leaders.

El Paso is home to incredible talent, yet opportunities to gain hands-on experience, build professional networks, and explore careers in science are not always equally accessible. We want to help change that.

Our Vision: The Science Leadership Academy

Our flagship program, the Science Leadership Academy, is being developed to support local college students pursuing degrees in the natural and health sciences. Through mentorship, experiential learning, professional development, and community engagement, we hope to connect students with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

We envision an Academy where students can learn alongside scientists and professionals, explore career pathways, strengthen their leadership skills, and build relationships that support their academic and professional journeys.
