Since the pandemic hit our community, many families have struggled with how to keep their children engaged during a period of emotional and social isolation. In response, PBS El Paso is working on ways to introduce support parents through our educational initatives.
At PBS El Paso, we are proud that we’ve responded to this need by offering creative new solutions. PBS El Paso is leading the way in helping kids learn during this significant time of disruption in education. Now more than ever, children can benefit from beloved PBS characters and outcomes-based activities that help them learn core concepts and develop coping skills. We have increased the amount of educational programming for children, and are offering virtual events.
Additionally, we are ensuring the community has access to Meet the Helpers, an initiative designed to introduce children to community helpers and practice emergency preparedness. Research has shown that introducing children to community helpers in a safe and fun environment can help them react better during times of crisis. PBS El Paso is here to assist and guide parents on how to have conversations with their children about their safety and how to handle scary situations like the pandemic.
With you by our side, PBS El Paso has made an amazing local impact and we are ready to continue to roll up our sleeves and serve our community. All monies raised through El Paso Giving Day will support Meet the Helpers initiatives, and continue with our mission to create a community of life long learners by providing educational programming.
