Rescue Re-Shot Project
Rescue Re-Shot Project provides professional photography at no cost to El Paso shelters and rescues, helping adoptable pets connect with potential families. So far this year, we have photographed 312 dogs. We’re also creating a documentary exploring El Paso’s animal overpopulation crisis and the community efforts to address it.

Causes: Animals

A photograph can be the beginning of a love story.

Behind every kennel door is a pet with a personality, a little spark, and a life worth knowing. In a crowded shelter, it can be difficult for potential adopters to see all of that.

We’re Lilian and Jaime, the husband-and-wife team who created Rescue Re-Shot Project. We brought our love of animals and photography together to give shelter pets portraits that help people see the companions they could become.

We work with El Paso Animal Services, the Humane Society of El Paso, and other rescue organizations to provide professional photographs at no cost. With patience, treats, and time to get comfortable, we capture each pet’s expressions and personality for shelters to share with potential adopters.

So far in 2026, we have photographed 312 dogs. Each one has given us another reason to keep showing up, from the shy dogs who need a little reassurance to the playful ones whose personalities fill the room.

Our commitment also extends beyond the photographs. We are creating an episodic documentary exploring El Paso’s animal overpopulation crisis. Through interviews and footage of shelter work, animal transport, and community programs, we are examining the challenges animals face and the efforts to create lasting change.

We want to help our community understand both the individual lives behind the statistics and the larger issues affecting them, including breeding, access to spay and neuter services, responsible pet ownership, and animal welfare policies.

Your donation helps cover the practical costs of our shelter photography, including transportation, backdrop paper, and treats. We provide the photography and editing without compensation, so your support helps us continue reaching pets waiting for homes.

A portrait gives people a chance to notice a dog’s gentle expression, curious eyes, or goofy smile, and imagine that pet as part of their family. The documentary carries that same desire to help animals be seen into a broader conversation about our community’s future.

Help us put more shelter pets in the picture, and bring their next chapter a little closer.
