The Annual Children’s Christmas Party, one of the oldest ongoing service club programs in our region, is a partnership of the Rotary Club of El Paso and Region 19 Head Start. Today over 4,500 three and four-year old Head Start children are hosted for a Christmas program where they each receive their very own stocking filled by Rotarians with an assortment of treats and an age appropriate book that may be the first for their family. It inspires love of reading.
The Rotary Wheels program enables us to distribute free bicycles to mobility-challenged students. Our goal is to distribute at least 100 bikes to K-12 students who have demonstrated good attendance and academic progress this holiday season in partnership with local school districts.
We are part of a district-wide international project to deliver 600 wheelchairs to disabled and homebound residents in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico in Spring 2025.
Your Rotary Club of El Paso is an ongoing local partner with the Texas Ramp Project, Building Freedom for the Homebound. In just over nine years, Rotary volunteers working with the Texas Ramp Project have constructed over 100 ADA compliant ramps. On average, a ramp is forty linear feet, requiring one hundred twenty person-hours to complete.
Rotary Club of El Paso opened RotaCare El Paso Medical Clinic, a health clinic that offers free medical care. Patterned after free Rotary clinics on the West Coast, the RotaCare clinic is the first in Texas. It now operates every week at the Kennedy Community Center where it provides care for an underserved population. It’s open to everyone, regardless of ability to pay, and can be reached by public transportation. Rotarians and Texas Tech Health El Paso staff and students partner to provide free care each Saturday.
