Your Gift Is More Than a Donation, It’s a Lifeline
Imagine this: An elderly neighbor who avoids showering because their bathroom is dangerously unsafe, and every step feels like a risk. Or someone whose health is declining simply because they can no longer chew the food they used to love, if only they could afford dentures. These aren’t hypotheticals. They’re real people, facing real struggles, who live in our community. Your generosity can rewrite their story from one of quiet suffering to one of restored dignity and comfort.
Persons 60 and older who are in need of assistance apply directly to the Area Agency on Aging to determine eligibility. Agency staff screen client’s requests to ensure there are no other benefits or local resources available that could support their request. The Area Agency on Aging would then access the Senior Fund for items to be purchased through the Fund.
Examples of the kinds of items purchased through the Fund are Hearing Aids, Dentures, Residential Repairs for safety purposes or modifications to the home that can help make a home more accessible, Medical Equipment and Supplies. These services are provided once and help the older adult maintain their independence and support their ability to remain in the community. The federal funding that is allocated to the Area Agency on Aging is never enough to help meet the requests for assistance that it receives, but with your help, we can expand our reach and meet more unmet needs.
