SHPBEDS, El Paso
We are SHPBEDS, El Paso. We build and deliver complete free single and bunk twin beds for children three to seventeen. Statistics indicate that there are 6,000 children in El Paso without a bed of their own. https://youtu.be/wSr1J8xozx4?si=CdaCw8WHp6GnADnL

Causes: Children and Youth

We build and deliver free twin single and bunk beds to children sleeping in bunches, sleeping on couches, sleeping on chairs, sleeping on the floor - because nobody else has been able to give them a bed of their own. We provide them with that bed knowing it will help their health, learning, self-esteem, and future. We provide the beds without restrictions or preconditions, other than the child does not have one. We have done so since our first bed-building event right before Christmas in 2022 when we built our first set of beds at Southwest University Park. This was made possible with the help of the office staff and fans of the El Paso Chihuahuas and the El Paso Locomotives and funded by the Hunt Foundation. Since then, we have built and delivered over 260 beds to El Paso County children. This has been made possible with funding from Lowes, Mattress Firm, Lions District 2-T3, El Paso Downtown Lions Foundation, Verizon Retailer TCC, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as well as churches, organizations, and private individuals from El Paso and around the country.

We have built the beds in Lowe’s parking lot, a park, a stadium, a VFW, a warehouse, and a space donated by a very caring individual for repeat community builds. Additionally, we deliver the beds to each child and assemble them on the spot with a mattress, sheets, blankets (including some homemade quilts and crocheted blankets), pillows, and lots of love from our volunteers. We work with community and social welfare organizations to identify children and get them
