It started with a simple belief: that the stories of the border region deserve to be told by the people who live them. “Somos/We Are” represents the collective heart of El Paso. Founded by educators, SOMOS Performance Group was born out of a critical need—to create a sustainable ecosystem where exceptional local artists don’t have to leave the Sun City to thrive, and where our community doesn’t have to pay premium prices to experience professional theater.
For years, we brought this vision to life across different stages. But we knew that for local talent to truly root themselves and grow, they needed a permanent home.
This year, we turned that dream into reality. We officially opened our brand-new studio space at 513 W. San Antonio in the Union Plaza Arts District. This isn’t just a rehearsal room; it is a creative sanctuary where local actors train, designers collaborate, and a community comes together. We are removing the traditional gatekeepers of theater by ensuring our ticket prices remain accessible and our doors remain wide open to everyone.
