The Underserved Communities Foundation, Inc.
The Underserved Communities Foundation (UCF) is dedicated to reducing poverty by empowering the underserved. UCF was founded in March 2021 as a non-profit community foundation embracing the vision of community and individual economic development through the people helping people philosophy. UCF supports activities and organizations addressing affordable/accessible credit and savings, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, & Accessibility, education, employment, environment, food security, health, housing, technology, and transportation. UCF recognizes that the key to community economic development lies in the empowerment of individuals and families in underserved communities. UCF partners with local organizations to support these individuals and families on their journey to self-sufficiency. UCF focuses on gaps in services and programming addressing additional barriers that underserved communities face which prevent them from breaking the cycle of poverty. UCF is committed to advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, & Accessibility in the region. DEIBA is interwoven into UCF’s values, essence, work, and practices.

Michael’s Journey to self-sufficiency video

“I was there [at the Winchester Emergency Shelter Center] for a good 4 or 5 months until I was finally able to get my own apartment. I was able to get it due to the help of the UCF. They through a program that contributes to pay one’s rent for a certain amount of time while you try to save up your own money so when they are done paying, you can be financially stable, and you can pay it on your own. So, I am grateful to those guys and everything they did. They’ve made my life a blessing.”
