Dear friends, colleagues, and family,

Imagine lying in bed while rain drips through the ceiling. Imagine a wheelchair that can’t fit through your own front door, or a bathroom you can’t use safely because there’s no grab bar, no walk-in shower, no raised toilet. For too many of our El Paso neighbors, many of them elderly or living with disabilities, this is everyday life, and they can’t afford the repairs or do the work themselves.

That’s why I’m asking you to support Rebuilding Together El Paso (RTEP) on El Paso Giving Day, Thursday, October 15. RTEP believes community starts at home. They provide critical repairs, accessibility modifications, and energy-efficient updates to low-income homes at no cost to the homeowner: roofs that stop leaking, walls restored, ramps built, doorways widened, bathrooms made safe. The goal is simple: that every neighbor can live in warmth, safety, and independence.

I’m asking as a member of the RTEP Board of Directors, and as someone who works with Recovery Guide, El Paso’s mental health and addiction resource guide. Together with El Paso Recovery and Wellness Center Homes and Recker’s Outreach for Veterans, we’re building the Veterans Homecoming Project. Many veterans come home carrying PTSD, and too many end up homeless, struggling with addiction, or facing mental health crises. Healing is so much harder without a safe, stable place to do it. A home is where recovery can begin.

Your gift helps neighbors facing addiction, mental health challenges, poverty, and physical disabilities, and it helps us keep the Veterans Homecoming Project going. What is raised on Giving Day stays in El Paso.

Here’s how to double your impact: Meta is matching eligible gifts dollar for dollar, up to $25,000 per nonprofit, beginning at 8 a.m. on October 15. Matching is first-come, first-served, so please give early in the day. Early Giving opens today, October 8, and a gift of just $10 makes a difference.
