Created in 2017, ELB has helped fill a gap in the El Paso community for children with Down syndrome. High birth rates for children with Down syndrome in our community prove the need for such a preschool.
Common characteristics and medical conditions of individuals with Down syndrome such as little to no verbal speech, vision problems, and sleep apnea make learning opportunities challenging but not impossible through our approach.
Our preschool offers: A Toddlers class for 12 months to 2 years that is an engaging learning experience helping all children explore with their hands, sing and dance, and gain pre-academic skills.
A Littles class focused on learning academic skills like counting, ABCs, prewriting tasks, following multi-step directions, interacting with peers in group activities, learning to use the potty, and following daily routines. Plus there’s a focus on social skills like making friendships, communicating wants, needs, and making choices, and pretending.
A Bigs class with students 4 and 5 years focuses on learning academic skills like letter identification, phonics, counting and grouping, writing, science experiments and exploring new concepts as well as social skills like playing with friends and solving problems, communicating with more vocabulary, and modeling for the younger classes.
Our parents love to see the growth that happens every day!
