The Hope Border Institute (HOPE) applies Catholic social teaching to the realities unique to the US-Mexico border region. Through a robust program of research, policy work, leadership development and action, we work to build justice and deepen solidarity across the borderlands.

Humanitarian Action

  • Delivering critical humanitarian aid to families and vulnerable migrants arriving to the US-Mexico border

  • Deploying our binational team of physicians and nurses to meet the healthcare needs of refugees

  • Addressing the crisis of deaths in our El Paso desert by organizing water drops

A Strategy Center for Justice

  • Organizing parishes, faith leaders and our binational partners to advocate for just and transformative policies for migrants and for our border communities

  • Promoting just and sustainable communities in Central America so that families don’t need to make the painful choice to migrate

  • Working with faith communities and everyday people across the country to ensure a humane and dignified reception for people seeking safety at the border

Speaking Truth to Power

  • Publishing groundbreaking reports detailing the impacts of failed border policy

  • Pushing back on the attack on El Paso and other border communities by organizing creative acts of hopeful resistance
